Description from the seller

Stupendous and very rare columnar or cylindrical walnut nightstand, often also called "somno", dating from the first half of the 19th century, during the Empire period. The structure, made with figured walnut veneer, is a "dodecagon"—that is, it has 12 sides and 12 corners—which makes this piece truly rare, because normally the sides ranged from 8 to a maximum of 10. On the front there is a door opening with a bronze handle that conceals two internal shelves. Originally conceived as nightstands for the bedroom, today they are often used as standalone furniture pieces, coffee tables for the living room, or decorative columns.
