Description from the seller
Keizo Kitajima’s photobook New York is a landmark work featuring street snapshots taken in New York City between 1981 and 1982. Set against an urban landscape where decay and vitality coexisted, the book presents a series of black-and-white photographs that incisively capture the gazes, gestures, and chance encounters of people standing on the streets. Eschewing a touristic perspective, Kitajima employs an intimate, confrontational proximity to his subjects; his tight framing, charged with palpable tension, powerfully foregrounds the anonymous yet unmistakable presence of those living within the city.
CONDITION
There is slight wrinkling at the top edge of the front cover of the dust jacket. The book itself shows a crease on the endpaper. Otherwise very good.
