Description from the seller
The Pioneer SA-9100 was a high-end stereo integrated amplifier produced between 1973 and 1975, regarded at the time as the Japanese company's flagship model for fidelity and versatility.
The device stands out for exceptional build quality, with a brushed aluminum front panel, knobs machined from solid, and a wood veneer cabinet.
From a sonic standpoint, enthusiasts often describe it as having a "warm" and musical sound, almost tube-like, with a sweet midrange and controlled bass.
The amplifier for sale looks very good; the front panel is in excellent condition, as is the chassis, and it is functionally perfect.
There is a misalignment of the chassis relative to the front panel of about 2 mm, the causes of which are not known to me.
What is described is visible in the photos, which are an integral part of the description.
• Circuitry Innovation: It is equipped with an output stage featuring an OCL (Output Capacitor-Less) circuit with direct coupling, which guarantees an extremely wide frequency response and minimal distortion.
• Advanced Tone Controls: It features “Twin Tone Controls,” which allow you to adjust bass and treble on two separate operating frequencies each (50 Hz and 100 Hz for the bass, and 10 kHz and 20 kHz for the treble).
• Connectivity Flexibility: Supports up to three pairs of speakers, two turntables (with gain adjustment for Phono 2) and two front microphone inputs.
• Precision: The volume control uses a stepped attenuator that allows precise adjustments, complemented by a three-position muting switch (-15dB, -30dB and 0).
Below are the main technical specifications provided by the official Pioneer service manual and by the laboratory tests of the era:
• Output power: 60 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo, 20 Hz - 20 kHz).
• Frequency response: From 10 Hz to 70 kHz.
• Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Less than 0.1%.
• Damping factor (Damping Factor): 70 (at 8Ω).
• Input sensitivity: 2.5 mV (MM), 150 mV (line), 2 mV (microphone).
• Signal-to-noise ratio: 80 dB (MM), 90 dB (line), 70 dB (microphone).
Channel separation: 50dB (Phono), 55dB (Line).
• Dimensions: 430 x 138 x 341 mm.
• Weight: 13.6 kg.
• Semiconductors: 63 transistors, 30 diodes.
The amplifier will be packed carefully and the shipment will be insured.
