Description from the seller
Portuguese Solid Silver Cup – Possibly Almofadela – 19th Century
Rare Portuguese solid silver cup, dating from the 19th century, possibly originating from Almofadela.
The piece features a classic fluted body rising elegantly from a rounded pedestal foot, with a gently everted rim. The vertical gadrooning (fluting) and balanced proportions reflect traditional Portuguese silversmith craftsmanship of the 1800s.
Although no visible hallmarks are present, the cup has been professionally tested and confirmed to be solid silver. It is not uncommon for certain 19th-century provincial pieces to lack clear marks due to wear, local production practices, or later polishing.
The surface presents natural patina and age-related wear consistent with its 19th-century origin, reinforcing its authenticity and antique character.
