Description from the seller
This photobook has never been distributed in specialized bookstores and only a few copies were sold and given away on the day of its presentation at the Municipal Swimming Pools of Montjuïc (Barcelona) on a cold January morning in 2023. The rest of the copies were used for commercial commitments by Fujifilm, which is also the publisher.
As a friend of Pilar's, I think it's only fair to explain the story behind these wonderful photographs.
A few years ago, due to serious work-related problem, Pilar lost her memory and sense of direction to the point where she was unable to leave her own home for seven years.
The doctors, since she wasn't responding well to the medication, didn't know what to do. They suggested she try some activity. That was the year Fujifilm launched its now highly regarded X series, so Pilar got an X-Pro. When she felt more able to leave the house, she realized that, having been a water polo player herself, pools weren't a completely foreign place, as they had been her second home for many years. Thanks to the indirect look through the viewfinder, Pilar rose again like a phoenix, until her story and her photographs reached Fujifilm who decided, with great success, to name Pilar ambassador of the Fujifilm X series and decided to publish this photobook, which as I say was never for sale in specialized bookstores and if today you can find a copy it is from those that Fujifilm used for commercial commitments.
