Constantine Manos - American Color 2 - 2010

American Color 2 by Constantine Manos continues his exploration of everyday life in the United States using a Leica M6 and colour-saturated Kodachrome 64 film. At state fairs, pageants, beaches, and other places where crowds gather, Constantine presents a kaleidoscopic vision of American culture. Yet his intention is not to present us with a definitive view of a country or its people; instead, these are worlds within worlds, highly complex images that transform the ordinary into the extraordinary and the real into the surreal. They are fleeting moments frozen in time that could only exist as photographs, collectively bathing in the warmth of the sun, and in the sheer joy of looking.
