The Black Triangle Newspaper is a large-format newspaper-style publication of Josef Koudelka’s panoramic black-and-white photographs documenting the devastated industrial landscapes of the Black Triangle region in Central Europe. Based on images he made in the early 1990s, the work fills broad newspaper pages with stark, wide-angle views of barren terrains, open-pit mines, waste heaps, and ruined forests, offering a raw visual record of the environmental and social damage caused by decades of coal mining and heavy industry.
Catalogue published on the occasion of the exhibition Josef Koudelka: The Making of Landscape, at the Signet Library (Edinburgh) from 1-27 August 2017. Produced by The WS Society In partnership with Magnum Photos In association with The Times Scotland.
