Louis XVI Fireplace Screen with Central Laurel and Torch Emblem, France 1940
Brass and steel fireplace screen executed in the Louis XVI neoclassical style, featuring a shaped upper rail with beaded detail and turned finials at both corners. The central cast ornament depicts crossed torches, laurel branches and ribbon bow in relief, mounted on a fine metal mesh panel. The composition reflects classical symmetry and restraint characteristic of French decorative arts.
Manufactured in France, 1940.
Style: Louis XVI / Neoclassical.
Function: freestanding fire guard for hearth protection and decorative fireplace element.
Dimensions: H 64 cm x W 67 cm x D 14 cm.
Condition: Structurally stable and complete. The brass frame presents age-related patina and minor surface wear consistent with use. Visible oxidation is present along the lower inner steel strip and mesh. No structural damage.
