Eastman Kodak Company, model no. 1a autographic Kodak Junior, a bellows camera for 116 film with universal focus, tested and working.
Description from the seller
No. 1a Autographic Kodak Junior, a classic folding camera produced by the Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester between 1914 and 1927. This specific model is the 'Universal Focus' version (fixed focus), as clearly stated on the original box included in the lot, a feature that made it particularly easy to use for amateur photographers of the era.
The camera mounts an achromatic meniscus lens on a Kodak ball bearing shutter, known for its reliability and gentle shutter action. The shutter offers exposure times of 1/25, 1/50, and 1/100 of a second, in addition to B and T settings. The aperture is adjustable via a simplified numeric scale from 1 to 4 located at the bottom of the shutter, typical of the meniscus optics of this period.
designed to use 116-format film (now discontinued) for large-format negatives 6.5 x 11 cm, this camera incorporates the celebrated "autographic" feature, which allowed the photographer to annotate details directly on the negative through a small hatch on the back using a suitable stylus. complete with its original vintage cardboard box, it represents an excellent piece of early twentieth-century photography history.
