Napoleon III style urn in gilt bronze (ormolu) and white marble, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1860–1880), with a domed lid and decorative handles.
Description from the seller
Large Napoleon III Style Ormolu and Marble Covered Urn – France – Late 19th Century
Impressive and richly decorated covered urn executed in finely cast gilt bronze (ormolu) combined with white marble. The urn displays elegant neoclassical styling, characteristic of the Napoleon III period, inspired by Louis XVI models.
The marble body is mounted with elaborate gilt bronze ornamentation, including ribbon swags, floral garlands, and opposing handles terminating in finely detailed animal heads. The domed lid is crowned with a decorative finial, completing the stately and balanced silhouette.
The contrast between the warm patinated ormolu and the white marble gives this piece a refined and luxurious appearance. The urn rests on a stepped square base with detailed bronze mounts, giving it strong architectural presence.
A substantial and decorative statement piece, suitable for both classical and eclectic interiors.
