Description from the seller
The LEGO 8860 Technic Auto-Chassis from 1980 is considered a milestone in LEGO history. It introduced complex mechanical functions that became standard for many later Technic supercars.
Parts count: 668 to 676 pieces
Dimensions: approx. 46.2 cm long and 19.7 cm wide
Year of release: 1980.
The set is characterized by its realistic technical functions that demonstrate how a real automobile works:
A rear-mounted 4-cylinder boxer engine with moving pistons.
A functional 3-speed manual transmission with gear lever.
The rear axle features a differential and independent suspension with four springs.
A functional rack-and-pinion steering.
Adjustable seats, whose angle is fixed by a rod and a rubber band.
The set is regarded as one of the best teaching aids for vehicle engineering, as it presents the mechanics openly and understandably.
The manual is detailed, but due to the then-common “black-on-black” depiction of gears, it requires high attention.
The set has now been rebuilt after 20 years for the photos and checked for completeness. The set is complete, no part is missing. Some gray and blue bricks have yellowed slightly with age.
The set will be disassembled and sorted in the original box with the printed manual.
Insured shipping with tracking number.
