Description from the seller
Pendant Aquamarine / Cabochon / new
In 925 sterling silver set
Includes leather cord
Weight: 6.40 g (weighed without leather cord)
30.3 mm x 12.7 mm x 7.0 mm
New and unworn
Aquamarine is the blue variety of the silicate mineral beryl and therefore crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system with the chemical composition Be3Al2[Si6O18].
Its blue color arises from trace impurities of divalent and trivalent iron ions (Fe2+ and Fe3+) at various lattice positions. As an allochromatic (foreign-colored) mineral, the streak color of aquamarine is always white. The color named after the gemstone is a saturated greenish-blue, but pale blue to dark blue beryls are also referred to as aquamarine.
Due to its high Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8 and its often well-formed, clear crystals, aquamarine is mainly processed into gemstones.
