Elegant antique manicure and toilet set in its original case, Italian origin, dating to circa 1930–1940, made of silver with 800/1000 fineness and green guilloché enamel with hand-painted floral motifs, including scissors, manicure tools and glass containers, marked 800/1000, in good condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Elegant antique toiletry/manicure set in its original case, datable to the early decades of the 20th century (circa 1900–1930), produced in and originating from Italy.
“The instruments bear the ‘800’ punch and laboratory marks, confirming the presence of solid silver 800/1000 and not plating.”
The set consists of various tools, including scissors, manicure utensils and glass containers, with silver mounts and splendid green guilloché enamel handles, decorated with delicate hand-painted floral motifs (garlands of roses). The enamel is applied on a mechanically engraved background, a technique typical of high-quality European production of the period.
The glass containers are fitted with silver caps and the accessories are housed in their original shaped case, lined with silk and velvet. Inside the lid is the retailer’s mark “Callegari Giuseppe – Orefice Gioielliere – Padova,” documenting historical provenance and sale at a historic Italian jewelry shop.
This type of set was intended for a lady’s toilette or for travel use and represents a refined example of early 20th-century decorative arts, combining craftsmanship, functionality and elegance.
Materials: silver, guilloché enamel, glass
Era: circa 1900–1930
Origin: Italy
Conditions: good overall condition, with signs of age and use consistent with the period (wear to metal parts, slight marks to the case and instruments, as visible in the photos). The enamel is, overall, well preserved.
Decorative and collectible set, ideal for enthusiasts of antique toiletry items, artistic enamels and the decorative arts of the early twentieth century.
