Hand-knotted Oriental rug in the classic Bokhara design.
The elongated central field is rendered in a deep red and is defined by a vertically arranged row of large geometric medallions. The medallions are built in steps and show inside finely worked, symmetrical motifs in dark blue, beige, pink, green and brown. The clear axis alignment gives the rug a strong, traditional appearance.
The narrow border is dark and shows small, regularly repeated floral elements in blue-, beige- and pink-toned colors. A wider outer frame in warm brown harmoniously encloses the overall image and provides a calm finish. The combination of vivid red and dark contrasts underscores the characteristic character of a Bokhara rug.
