Design branded Mercedes-Benz 190 SL - Technical Drawing - Frame, framed, original/official, 93 cm wide by 63 cm high.
Description from the seller
Light elegance and cosmopolitan spirit. Official document and representation of the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster, introduced in the mid-1950s as the most accessible and refined interpretation of the house of Stuttgart’s sports car. Aesthetically inspired by the legendary 300 SL “Gullwing,” the 190 SL was born with the intention of offering the same glamour and sophistication, but with a more road-enjoyment oriented character than competition.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL represented the perfect synthesis between style, engineering, and driving pleasure. Its design, signed under the direction of Karl Wilfert, adopted balanced proportions, a wide grille with the star presiding over the front, and soft lines that conveyed elegance without aggression. With a canvas top and a removable hard top option, the 190 SL offered versatility and a distinguished presence in any setting, from the French Riviera to American avenues.
Under its hood lay a 1.9-liter inline-four with single overhead cam, capable of developing around 105 HP. Paired with a four-speed manual and rear-wheel drive, its approach prioritized smoothness, reliability, and dynamic comfort over radicality. It wasn’t an extreme sports car, but a grand touring open car designed to travel in style and calm.
Its Ponton-level chassis from the brand’s sedans provided structural solidity and stable handling, while its interior offered quality materials and a refined atmosphere, in line with Mercedes-Benz’s premium positioning in the postwar era.
Produced between 1955 and 1963, the 190 SL established itself as one of the most desirable roadsters of its time, especially in the North American market. Today it is one of the German firm’s most cherished classic pieces: a symbol of 1950s elegance, the optimism of a new era, and Mercedes-Benz’s ability to combine luxury, engineering, and timeless style in a single automobile.
Comes with a black wooden frame and synthetic crystal. Very well wrapped and protected for safe transport until you have it in your hands. Exterior measurements are 63 x 93 cm with a depth of 3 cm.
Large-format print with gallery-quality. Museum-grade cotton canvas paper, 340 g/m2.
