Vajrapani 32 cm, a gilded bronze Tibetan sculpture from the 20th century, measuring 32 x 20 x 11 cm and weighing 2.6 kg, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Vajrapani is one of the most important bodhisattvas in Tibetan Buddhism and represents the power and might of all the Buddhas.
His name literally means 'the one who holds the vajra' (vajra = thunderbolt/diamond scepter, pani = hand).
Main features
Symbolism: Vajrapani embodies spiritual power, protection, and the destruction of obstacles and negative forces.
He stands as a symbol of the indestructible energy of enlightenment.
Iconography: He is typically depicted in a wild, dynamic form with a blue or dark body, surrounded by flames.
He often has an angry expression on his face, wears a tiger skin, and holds a vajra (thunderbolt) in his right hand.
Role: As a protector of the Buddha and the Dharma (teachings), he drives away demons and negative influences.
He is also seen as the guardian of secret tantric teachings.
Position: Vajrapani, together with Manjushri (wisdom) and Avalokiteshvara (compassion), forms the three principal bodhisattvas, with him representing power.
The statue is in good used condition with signs of aging. (See photos)
