Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed copy on the title page by Robert Polidori, unique and unobtainable on the internet in a signed edition. Original French edition. 336 pages and 330 full-page color photographs with a valuable indication of the shooting locations, street by street. Very beautiful mauve cloth cover, illustrated dust jacket, and a sturdy editorial case to properly protect this book. Copy in excellent condition, practically new and with its original protective packaging.
Robert Polidori traveled to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, which struck in 2005 in the North Atlantic, and which killed nearly 2,000 people and caused enormous material damage. He found the streets deserted and, without electricity, strangely dark. The next day, he began to photograph, house by house: “In every place I went, the doors were simply opened by the police, the National Guard, and the firefighters looking for possible survivors … The occupants who could return after the waters receded could see that there was nothing worth saving.” Robert Polidori found something worth saving; he created memories for those who could not return, by photographing these ruins of paradoxical beauty. The abandoned houses he photographed bear witness to the lives of the missing and the deceased through what remains of their belongings and their houses. (From the publisher’s site).
A book from my personal collection, in excellent condition (like new), kept with great care. Very effective protected shipping and international tracked mail guaranteed. In case of multiple purchases, possibility of grouped shipping with reimbursement of excess postal fees paid via PayPal.
