Description from the seller
A fashion dream, elusive, intangible, which Sarah Moon nevertheless manages to capture through her evanescent shots with powerful grain. A poetry of looks and gestures that transcends the spirit and Dior's style, expressing the strength that emanates from the silhouettes imagined by Christian Dior and his successors, and in particular by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director of the women’s collections of the Maison. A hymn to a plural femininity, sublime in all its complexity, Sarah Moon’s work reveals itself as an original work, composed of three beautiful books, each of which celebrates the multiple facets of Dior and the architectural essence of its creations. The first volume presents a selection of compositions staged at the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris, exploring the infinite variations of black and white, capturing the iconic models of Christian Dior from 1947 to 1957. These images are marked by the grace of the Mallorcan model Andrea Gutiérrez “who has embodied this timeless woman, of yesterday or today” as the photographer writes in her preface. Sometimes invoking color, the photos shared in the second collection return to the past, to probe Dior’s archives. Accompanied by a text by Olivier Saillard, the works of Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri tell, thus, in front of the artist’s lens, the history of a House in perpetual motion.
