Specimen of Cassis rufa, family Cassidae.
Dimensions :
• Length: 10 cm
• Weight: 168 g
Thick, globular shell, with pronounced nodules on the spire and spiral reliefs characteristic of the species.
Coloration brown to beige with darker bands.
Wide aperture with smooth interior in orange to salmon hues.
Species appreciated for its compact shape and decorative reliefs.
Origin: Indo-Pacific (Indian Ocean, Indonesia, Philippines).
Habitat: tropical sandy bottoms.
Period: contemporary specimen (20th–21st century).
Specimen from an old private collection, acquired before current regulations concerning the collection and trade of marine shells.
Condition:
Good overall condition.
Reliefs well preserved.
Possible slight natural traces related to the marine environment.
No major cracks visible.
