Description from the seller

At auction, an impressive and singular wall-mounted mirror with a coat rack (or hall tree), dated to the late 19th century (approx. 1880–1900). This piece stands out for its exquisite artisanal craftsmanship and its unusual mythological iconography.
Main features
Iconography: The piece is crowned by a spectacular high-relief carving of a Pegasus (mythological winged horse). The figure shows great dynamism, with a detailed anatomical study of the musculature and the plumage of the wings, supported on scrolls and vegetal elements. It is very rare to find mythological figures instead of the traditional hunting motifs or forest animals, which adds rarity and value to the piece.
• Material: High-quality solid wood, very likely Walnut (due to the deep color and the fineness of the grain that allows such detail in the carving), with an original dark patina very well preserved.
• Design: Architectural structure with cross-shaped finials. The central frame houses a beveled octagonal mirror, flanked by incised carvings of floral motifs and scrolls in Neo-Renaissance style.
• Functionality: It has a series of hooks (hangers) distributed along the structure, ideal for hats or light coats. The hooks appear to be turned wood with metal fittings (brass/bronze), typical of the period.
• Style: Eclectic late 19th-century style, with a strong influence of the 'Black Forest' style (Selva Negra) on the quality of the animal carving, fused with the sober elegance of European Neo-Renaissance.
Condition of preservation
The piece is in very good condition for its age.
• The wood shows no active woodworm infestation or visible structural cracks.
• The Pegasus carving is intact.
• The mirror appears to be original or antique, preserving the charm of the era.
It shows a slight natural wear and patina consistent with use and the passage of time, which guarantees its authenticity.
Dimensions:
• Total height: 125 cm
• Maximum width: 65 cm
A collectible piece, ideal for giving character to an entrance hall, a classic study, or a stately country house.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING AND PACKAGING:
Due to the delicacy of the piece (mirror and high-relief carving), professional and tailored packaging will be prepared to ensure its integrity during the journey.
Protection: The furniture will be wrapped in multiple layers of cushioning material (high-density bubble wrap), with reinforced extra protection in the critical areas: the Pegasus wings, the carved legs, and the mirror glass (protected with rigid polystyrene boards on both sides).
Box: It will be shipped in a double-wall corrugated cardboard box or a reinforced box, with void-fill spacers to prevent any internal movement.
Tracking: The shipment will be sent via certified courier (UPS, DHL or similar) with a tracking number and insurance.
