Description from the seller
Silver miniature royal carriage with horses – Djokja (Yogyakarta) – ca. mid-20th century
Description:
A very finely detailed silver miniature of a ceremonial royal carriage with horses, produced in the traditional Djokja style (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), presumably mid-20th century.
The object is completely handmade and assembled from several separate silver components, including the richly decorated carriage, the coachman, and the draught horses. The detailing is exceptional: visible are the tack, wheels, ornaments on the carriage, and a crown atop, which emphasizes its ceremonial character.
The silver is unmarked, which is typical for Djokja silver intended for export. There is a stamp on the wooden plinth, a feature often found on Indonesian export pieces. The miniature is mounted on a wooden base with red velvet lining, also characteristic of this type of work.
A decorative and collectible piece, beloved by collectors of Djokja silver, Asian silver, and handmade miniatures.
