A 8-day mechanical mantel clock in a solid oak case with brass ornaments and glass elements, dating to circa 1960-1970 and made in the Netherlands, with moon phase, bell-striking on the hour and half-hour, dimensions 27 × 19 × 15 cm, weight 1.8 kg, winding key included, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Elegant and decorative antique bracket (mantel) clock with Moon phase, crafted in solid oak and richly adorned with gilt brass ornaments. This clock is made in English style, featuring a beautiful moon phase complication above the dial.
The silvered chapter ring is signed John Thomas – London (decorative trade name). The clock dates from approximately 1970 and was assembled in the Netherlands using a high-quality German 8-day mechanical movement (calibre UW 20/8), striking on bell on the hour and half-hour. The movement is numbered 81086.
The case is made of solid oak with warm patina and retains its original brass ornaments, handle and feet. The side panels are fitted with decorative pierced wood and fabric inserts.
The clock was retailed by a Dutch jeweller (Ridders – Roosendaal) and bears a JWA retailer/assembly label inside the case, typical for Dutch assembled clocks from this period, attributed to WUBA.
