Description from the seller

A finely painted 19th century Russian Orthodox icon, executed in tempera on a wooden panel with traditional gesso ground. The composition features multiple sacred scenes within a segmented architectural framework.
At the center lower register is the Resurrection (Descent into Hell), depicting Christ rising from the tomb before the Holy Women. Above, the Annunciation is shown with the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary in a detailed interior setting. Flanking panels portray full-length saints and archangels, each identified by Cyrillic inscriptions. The upper section includes a bust of God the Father in a radiant mandorla, blessing from the heavens.
The icon displays characteristic 19th century Russian stylistic elements: rich earth pigments, gilded halos, elongated figures, and fine linear detailing. The original wooden board retains its aged patina, with visible craquelure and wear consistent with age. On the reverse, a traditional horizontal battens (shponki) reinforcing the panel.
Condition: Visible surface wear, paint losses, and age-related cracks to the panel; overall stable and well-preserved for its age.
A devotional and decorative piece, suitable for collectors of Eastern Orthodox religious art.
