Hardcover binding in full cloth—with on its three spines a reproduction of Van Gogh's famous painting The Yellow Room—, 171 illustrations on sheets mounted in black-and-white and in color.
The letters mark the crucial stages of the painter's search: the early years in the Netherlands, the two years in Paris, the stay in Arles, up to the years spent in Saint-Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise.
