"Edgard Aubry, born in Châtelet (Belgium) in 1880 and died in Bouffioulx on July 1, 1943, is a Belgian ceramist.
Edgard is the son of Joseph Aubry and Félicie Henriette Bertrand. He married in Bouffioulx on February 27, 1904. He began his training in his father’s pottery. In 1903, he became a thrower at Gilles pottery in Châtelet (Belgium).
When the Brussels artist Willem Delsaux (Dutch) moved to Bouffioulx in 1907, they began together to create vases with an impressionist decoration. He also threw vases for other artists such as Pierre Paulus.
In 1908, he set up his own workshop and created salt-glazed stoneware fired at high temperature, sometimes decorated with motifs, reliefs and engravings. Between 1916 and 1937, he participated in several national and international exhibitions. He is notably found at the Pavilion of Honor at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Arts and Industries in 1925 but also in Glasgow in 1928."
