Description from the seller

Important Double-Body Sideboard with Display Cabinet – Solid Walnut – Italian Cabinetmaking – Late 19th Century

Object Description

Splendid sideboard with display cabinet upper section dating to the late 1800s, a masterful example of gentlemanly furniture in the Louis-Philippe style. The piece is built entirely in solid walnut, selected for its elegant grain and warm, deep tone.

The structure is divided into two distinct bodies:

Display Cabinet (Alzata): Features three wide glazed doors with hand-formed profiles. The light reflected on the glass (original) enhances the beauty of the inner compartment, ideal for displaying crystalware or art objects.

Lower Body (Credenza): Solid base characterized by two wide subtop drawers with high-quality mortise and tenon joints and two doors with flame-figured walnut panels. The vertical stiles are elegantly rounded, giving the piece a harmonious and never heavy profile.

Hardware and Details

A standout feature of this piece is the original antique-bronze hardware. The escutcheons and handles are finely chased with floral motifs and are perfectly integrated into the wood. The locks are functional and come with their period keys.

Conditions
The piece is absolutely perfect. It has been preserved with extreme care in a controlled environment. The conservative restoration performed is of the highest standard: the shellac polishing enhances the natural patina of the walnut without concealing its history.

Shipping and Packaging
Given the delicacy and importance of the object, pick-up on site in the Milan area (northwest) is required, with the possibility of loading onto a pallet for transport and securing the piece during shipment.
