Description from the seller
Original mosasaur jaw with natural dentition in its original matrix
Mosasaurus sp. – Late Cretaceous – Morocco
Original mosasaur jaw preserved in its natural matrix, with several teeth in anatomically authentic positions within the jawbone. All elements belong to the same individual, maintaining their natural association after fossilization.
The teeth are completely natural and have not been relocated or inserted, preserved as they fossilized in the original jaw. The piece is presented in its original sedimentary matrix, which guarantees its authenticity and stability. It is uncommon to observe jaws with all their teeth present without having been relocated and from the same animal.
The jaw also shows what appears to be a bite mark, visible as a hole in the bone, possibly caused by an attack by another mosasaur, a taphonomic feature not common that adds scientific and historical interest to the specimen.
Provenance: Morocco
Age: Late Cretaceous
