Vintage Italian sali-scendi lamp from around 1970, made of glass, brass, ceramic and wood, 110 cm high with a 33 cm width and depth, not in working order, featuring a scrollable glass diffuser balanced by a ceramic corn cob counterweight.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare adjustable lamp by corn cobs. The diffuser can be raised or lowered and is kept in balance by the counterweight. Italy, circa 1970. The orange glass diffuser on the outside and white on the inside accommodates an E27 bulb; at the bottom the socket is shaped like a ceramic corn cob. The counterweight that balances the lamp’s weight consists of a large, realistic ceramic corn cob, completely filled with small lead shot to provide the proper weight. The main pulley is brass with arms, as is the counterweight pulley.

Excellent preservation condition: no defects detected. Note the realism of the ceramic corn cobs, with white paints to simulate some missing kernels. The various parts have only been dusted to preserve the patina of time.

Shipping only for European Union countries, islands excluded.

Seller's Story

I mainly collect Murano chandeliers thanks to the collaboration with some companies that restore apartments and palaces in Venice. In this way, over time, I have recovered the chandeliers of elegant and often ancient houses in the lagoon and in the nearby areas. Murano glass has an incomparable charm: every piece, even the simplest, has a story hidden in its fragility and its iridescent light.
