Rococo folding fan from the second half of the 18th century with parchment leaf and mother-of-pearl ribs with gold and bronze relief, set in a gilded Belle Époque glass frame by Dupré (Paris).

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

French folding fan from the Rococo period.
Leaf of parchment paper with a hand-painted Rococo motif. The fan leaf is painted on the front with a gallant scene of a society at leisure in the green under a tree, with Cupid in the heavens and Rocaille decorations, with floral garlands and sheep. A finely chased border frames the scene. The fan ribs are mother-of-pearl with relief gold and bronze inlays. Frivolous figures from the Rococo era are depicted on them, with rich ornamental decorations. The top/outermost rib on the right is particularly richly adorned with a courtly scene up to the upper edge of the fan. The fan is mounted on a gold-colored background.
The fan is enclosed in a gilded, fully glass-encased Belle Époque frame from the exclusive maker Dupré (Paris), as evidenced by the company mark on the back. The company was based at the prestigious address Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré from 1888 to 1919. This frame can be presented with a stand attached to the back.
