Description from the seller
Michael Young
Metal Rock
The Metal Rock Collection consists of blue and gold aluminium objects such as a chair, stools and (side) tables. To create this limited edition collection, Michael Young developed a set of steel tools in which molten aluminium can be injected with high temperature gas under pressure, resulting in foamy rock formations. Secondly these objects are colored blue and/or gold in a facility that normally colors cellphone cases. Every object is unique and hand finished.
“Michael Young is an award winning designer and is one of the most influential British designers of his generation. We were greatly impressed by his work and approach as an industrial designer. In fact, we consider many of his pieces as industrial art. He often works from Brussels, with his studio headquarters in Hong Kong. He was the guest of honour of Interieur Kortrijk in 2002. We are very excited about showing these exclusive objects to the world.” – Veerle Verbakel Gallery
