German-made Lucite acrylic magazine rack dating to 1970–1980 in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear; dimensions 33 cm wide, 18 cm deep, 31 cm high.
Description from the seller
The item up for auction is a unique vintage magazine stand, the quintessence of West German modernism from the 1970s. Made of high-quality, thick acrylic glass (often referred to as Lucite), it is an excellent example of the era’s aesthetics, where transparency and geometric purity of form played a key role. This design directly references the Space Age movement and the achievements of German designers who, in the 1970s, experimented with new plastic materials in search of lightness and optical spaciousness in interiors. The magazine holder features a minimalist, almost stark construction, tempered by subtle, rounded corners and a functional, centrally placed handle with a precisely cut circular opening. Thanks to its total transparency, the piece does not dominate the space but becomes a sculptural accent that effectively showcases the magazines or vinyl records stored in it.
The offered item comes from Germany and is preserved in very good vintage condition. The acrylic retains the natural clarity appropriate for its age, and any signs of use are minimal and do not affect the decorative value of the piece. It is an excellent option for European design collectors and for those seeking authentic Mid-Century Modern additions that blend historical character with timeless elegance. Dimensions: width 33 cm, depth 18 cm, height 31 cm. Vintage, good condition, as shown (scratches).
