G. Meschini – Pair of hand-painted Art Deco illustrated postcards – “ARS NOVA” – 1920s\n\nPair of illustrated postcards signed G. Meschini, belonging to the production “ARS NOVA (hand-painted)”, as noted on the reverse. The two scenes are clearly attributable to the Italian Art Deco taste of the twenties:\n– first postcard: elegant gallant scene with a couple in evening wear on a floral sofa, nighttime setting stylized with large color blocks and decorative synthesis typical of the period\n– second postcard: Orientalist scene with a female figure on an elephant under a canopy, crescent moon and palm trees, with a stylized skyline in the background\nThe compositions are characterized by flat colors, clean lines, and a strong decorative sense, consistent with the Italian déco graphics of the early twentieth century. Both bear the signature “G. Meschini” at the bottom in the illustrated field.\n\nPublisher/Production: ARS NOVA – Italian production\nTechnique: illustrated postcards printed with a hand-painted finish (as indicated on the reverse)\nPeriod: circa 1920s\nFormat: standard vintage postcard\nProvenance: Italy\nCondition: one of the two has traveled; the other is partially completed.\nConservation status\nThe postcards show signs of aging consistent with their age.
