Antique Napoleon III Jardinière – Opaline bowl with gilded mount – ca. 1880–1900
A particularly elegant and decorative 19th-century side jardinière from the Napoleon III period, manufactured around the end of the 19th century.
This refined centerpiece combines a graceful opaline bowl with a richly worked gilded metal mount in Rococo/Rocaille style.
Description
The bowl is made of white opaline (milk glass) with a beautifully undulating, sculpted edge.
The interior is hand-painted with fine floral motifs in gold and subtle pink accents — typical of the transition from Napoleon III to early Art Nouveau influences.
The mount is richly decorated with:
Openwork Rocaille foot
Acantus leaves
Floral and scroll ornamentation
Elegant handle with foliate motifs
The central rosette in the bowl is decorative and adds depth to the whole.
