Theodolite-Compass (celerimeter) made by the historic firm Saverio Gargiulo, an excellence of Napoli's instrument-making from the late 19th to the early 20th century.
​The instrument is a masterful example of Italian scientific craftsmanship. It is made entirely of brunito brass and retains its splendid original patina, never altered by invasive restorations.
​Main features:
​Manufacturer: Saverio Gargiulo - Naples (Signature engraved inside the compass).
​Components: Telescope with intact optics, upper bubble level, and graduated vertical circle for measuring zenith angles.
​Integrated Compass: Large central compass with a compass rose in Italian (N, SO, NO) and the original magnetic needle.
​Base: Three-setting screw base for precision leveling.
​Conditions: Excellent cosmetic conservation state. The mechanical parts and screws are movable. The instrument is sold as a collectible/display piece (not tested for professional or contemporary use).
