Antico - Mirror - 800 - Mahogany - Wood

Antique mirror mounted on a carved wooden frame, richly decorated in multiple bands with floral motifs and raised scrolls along the entire central edge.
The frame has a multi-level structure: the prominent central part is a large, very dark brown carved in scrolls, with deep reflections that emphasize the decorative reliefs. An inner, smoother band with warm reddish tones and mahogany in the intermediate band, smoother, with warm grain that recalls polished wood. Subtle brass-brown accents in the inner parts of the thinner decorative border that encases the glass, consistent with decorative antique mirrors. The frame boasts a substantial front depth of 11 cm.

Inside, the antique beveled mirror on the sides appears oxidized and stained, typical of old mirrors with deteriorated silvering on the back. The dark areas, veils, and runs seen are signs of the passage of time.

The overall effect is very suggestive; the ensemble conveys a sense of antiquity and mystery, the mirror no longer reflects clearly but creates a blurred image, almost phantasmagoric, precisely due to the oxidation of the reflective surface.
