Antique Edwardian gentleman’s walking cane with a straight dark hardwood shaft and a London 1920 sterling silver knob (0.925), dating to 1910–1920, in good condition with expected wear.
Description from the seller
Gentleman’s walking cane mounted with a sterling silver knob handle hallmarked for London, 1920. The silver mount bears clear British assay marks, including the lion passant confirming sterling silver standard, the leopard’s head for the London Assay Office, and the corresponding date letter for 1920.
The silver knob is richly decorated with repousséd scrolling foliate motifs, displaying strong relief and hand-finished detailing typical of early 20th-century silver fittings. The decoration remains well defined, with natural surface wear and patina consistent with age and use.
The cane is fitted with a straight hardwood shaft, finished in a dark tone with visible natural grain. The shaft is solid, well balanced and structurally sound. The cane retains its original ferrule, showing wear consistent with long-term use and confirming originality.
A refined and authentic example of an early interwar British walking cane, valued for its fully hallmarked London silver mount and classic proportions.
Good antique condition, consistent with age. The sterling silver handle shows surface wear, light scratches and patina, with no structural damage. The hardwood shaft is straight and stable, showing surface wear and age-related marks from use. The original ferrule shows expected wear.
