- Inscriptions: Obverse: PRESIDENT KAUNDA · 24 OCTOBER 1965, bust of President Kenneth Kaunda to the right. Reverse: ZAMBIA · FIVE SHILLINGS, coat of arms held by two figures, eagle at the top and motto ONE ZAMBIA · ONE NATION.
- Grade: MS67 (NGC).
5-Shilling commemorative coin issued on the occasion of Zambia's independence, featuring a modern, realistic portrait of Kenneth Kaunda, showing excellent detail in the hair and facial features. The reverse presents the national coat of arms with a balanced sculptural composition and a high level of detail in the figures and patriotic symbols.
