After the defeat in World War I in 1918, Germany experienced almost five years of unparalleled currency chaos. There was an increasing shortage of the Reichsbank's official banknotes. So thousands of cities and even smaller villages printed their own banknotes — and by the end (November 1923), in the era of hyperinflation, even their own trillion-mark notes. This collection of 555 (+) notes provides a very good overview of the diversity of the inflationary money issued in 1923 in hundreds of locations across Germany.
