An antique Edwardian-style EPNS silver-plated rectangular covered serving dish from the United Kingdom, dating to 1920–1930, with a fitted lid, base, and dimensions 23 cm wide, 30 cm deep, and 9 cm high, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Elegant antique covered serving dish made of EPNS silver-plated metal, featuring a rectangular form with softly shaped corners, a fitted lid with handle, and a matching base. The design is enhanced by restrained decorative scrollwork to the rim and classic beaded borders, typical of quality English tableware from the period.
The dish bears clear EPNS marks, confirming silver-plated manufacture using the electroplated nickel silver process. EPNS wares were widely produced in Sheffield, England, one of the principal centres of silver-plated tableware in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Originally intended for serving vegetables, entrées, or side dishes at the table, the piece offers versatile use. Thanks to its well-finished construction, the base and the lid can also be used separately as two individual serving vessels, allowing the dish to function either as a covered serving piece or as two shallow serving dishes or presentation trays.
Very good condition for its age. Light surface wear and fine scratches consistent with normal use. No dents or structural damage observed.
A refined and practical example of early 20th-century English EPNS tableware, combining elegant presentation with flexible functionality. Suitable both for decorative display and everyday use, and appealing to collectors of antique silver plate and classic dining objects.
