Mid Paleolithic Levallois flint spear point, in excellent condition, dating to about 40,000–150,000 BP, measuring 104 by 52 mm, provenance Western Sahara with a prior Belgian private collection origin.
Description from the seller
Fairly large and finely worked Middle Paleolithic projectile point, well balanced. Could have served as a spear point or scraper. This point was made according to the Levallois technique. A revolutionary technique in which a core block was carefully prepared and from which a perfect flake (with the typical triangular shape) could be struck off. The core (nucleus) was not used further.
Originating from Western Sahara.
