Description from the seller
Large Paleolithic chopping tool from the well-known Wiméreux site (Pointe-aux-Oies) which was already discovered in 1967 in the north of France.
The choppers from this site are made from generally quite large flint nodules found there.
They are associated with an early Homo erectus and Wiméreux is probably the northernmost site of this industry.
This specimen has over time developed a beautiful color palette on the flake faces. The actual color on the inside of the flint nodules is gray-black, visible at a few small damaged spots.
Each sold item/lot is provided with an authenticity certificate
Provenance/origin: The seller can demonstrate that the lot was obtained legally. The lot comes from a Belgian collection.
Important information:
The seller guarantees that he is authorized to ship this lot. He will ensure that any permits that may be required for the shipment of this lot are arranged. If this process takes more than a few days and if there are specific costs involved, he will inform the buyer in a timely manner.
