Description from the seller
Important antique gilded mirror with a neoclassical architectural frame – late nineteenth century
Elegant and sober wall mirror, with a carved and gilded wooden frame, of pronounced neoclassical inspiration and architecturally balanced composition and presence.
The frame features a robust and refined structure, with corners highlighted in the form of stepped cartouches, decorated with relief moldings and finely worked friezes. The ornamentation, discreet but of high quality, responds to the decorative canons of the late nineteenth-century historicism, evoking French and Italian models of classical tradition.
It preserves its original beveled mirror, with slight signs of time (small marks and veils), consistent with its age and that add authenticity without diminishing its decorative value.
A piece of great versatility, ideal for both classic interiors and contemporary spaces seeking an element with character and distinction. Very suitable for entry hall, living room, or study.
Key features:
- Carved and gilded wood
- Neoclassical architectural design
- Original beveled mirror
- Excellent proportion and build quality
- Style: Neoclassical / Historicism
- Era: late nineteenth century (c. 1880–1900)
- Condition: Good, with noble patina and signs of use in keeping with age (see photos)
