Working tool (10) - Assorted Shodō (書道) brush

This lot consists of 10 assorted Japanese calligraphy brushes (書道筆), inherited from a previous owner. The set includes a variety of sizes suitable for different styles of Japanese calligraphy (Shodō), from fine character writing to bold, large strokes.

The brushes feature natural hair bristles in different tones (white, grey, and brown), suggesting a mix of materials such as goat hair (羊毛), horse hair, and blended fibers. Both round-tip (丸筆) and flat-tip (平筆) brushes are included, offering versatility for line variation and expressive brushwork.

The handles are made of bamboo and wood, some with lacquered finishes. Several brushes retain original labels with Japanese inscriptions, and some include protective caps on the bristle ends.
