Description from the seller

-- "Special & semi-antique Tibet, an impressive rug in beautiful condition"
-- Professionally cleaned*
-- approx. 160,000 knots per m²
-- With Certificate

*Before entering our warehouse, cleaned at a laundry specialized in hand-knotted rugs, afterwards not used.

This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable natural materials. The way of knotting and the diversity of patterns make this rug unique and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
It concerns an excellent used rug with an extremely long lifespan.

This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid down as is. This beautiful Tibetan rug is hand-knotted circa 1960 with the finest, unbleached wool from sheep from the high Tibet region. This wool is naturally extra fatty due to the cold temperatures (acts as an insulator for the sheep). When this wool is used in carpets it not only provides a beautiful, extra sheen but also acts as a natural protective layer. Wool of this quality is (almost) not to be found. Naturally, color differences are visible, due to the wool NOT being bleached prior to the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic appearance, and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.

Main color: Red
Accent colors: Crème and black
Special features: Rich abrash (intrinsic natural color differences); Much sheen; Beautiful clean and fresh; Full, thick and cushioned rug; Stunning shine; Depending on viewing angle this rug has a lighter and a darker side; Impressive rug; Special object; Characterful; Semi-antique.
Wear: Minimal edge spot damage, despite still an impressive rug in good condition (photo 15).
