Statue, Handgesneden Indiaase Olifant - 10 cm - Soapstone

Decoratively carved hand-made elephant figurine crafted from natural orange sandstone (steatite), featuring characteristic red and purple iron veins throughout the stone.

The sculpture is executed in a stylized, minimalist form and is hand-polished to a smooth surface. The eye detail is subtly applied with black pigment, a technique commonly used in traditional Indian artisanal export engravings from the Rajasthan region in the second half of the 20th century.

Steatite (soapstone) is a soft metamorphic natural stone that has historically been widely used for hand-carving due to its good workability and the warm appearance of the surface.
