Description from the seller
Vintage Zenith Lighter - Chevrolet Advertising "The Twins" (NY) - 1950s/1960s
Description
Interesting promotional lighter from the Zenith brand, manufactured in Japan in the mid-20th century. This piece is a collectible item of "automobilia," as it promotes two historic Chevrolet dealerships in Long Island, New York:
Side 1: "Frame Chevrolet Twins" in Mineola, NY.
Side 2: "Walrig Chevrolet Twins" in Bay Shore, NY.
The lighter retains Chevrolet’s classic Bowtie logo and the original period addresses. It is a piece with a lot of history, ideal for motor-themed display cases or collectors of American/Japanese lighters.
Condition and Functionality
Body: The lighter shows evident wear due to age, with loss of gold/silver wash and a heavy patina of use that gives it a very authentic relief-like appearance.
Mechanism: The opening system is smooth, but the interior shows remnants of old stone and dirt typical of the era.
Functionality: Currently NOT FUNCTIONAL. Sold as a collectible or for restoration. Needs a deep cleaning, replacement of the flint, and fuel refilling to attempt to get it working.
Base: Engraved with "Zenith", "Superior Quality Design" and "Japan".
