Description from the seller

Female head sculpted in natural translucent alabaster, with an antique patina, representing an idealized face with calm and balanced features. Historicist 19th-century replica.

The modeling of the pared-down face suggests a work intended for votive or decorative purposes, possibly linked to a funerary or cult context. This type of stylization evokes certain productions of the ancient Orient (South Arabia, the Egyptian-oriental sphere, or the Hellenistic margins. However, the absence of documented archaeological context also invites considering the hypothesis of a historicist work, created at a later date.

The stone displays a beautiful honey translucency and a homogeneous patina. The visible traces suggest manual workmanship, without mechanical intervention.
The whole is mounted on an old black base, added around 1920.
