Description from the seller
Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Large Jardinière Planter on Feet – Silver-Plated Tin – c.1900–1910
Impressive large Jugendstil jardinière / centerpiece planter, richly decorated with flowing Art Nouveau reliefs, garlands and organic motifs. The sculptural handles, raised central cartouche and elegant feet give this piece strong architectural presence. A true statement object for an interior, sideboard or hall table.
The dark, naturally aged patina contrasts beautifully with the silvered relief details, enhancing the depth of the ornamentation. Heavy quality piece with refined casting and crisp detailing.

Historical context
Around 1900, Jugendstil designers sought to merge decorative arts with sculptural form, inspired by natural motifs and flowing lines. Large metal jardinières such as this were popular in upper-class interiors, used as table centerpieces or window planters, and often produced by German, Austrian and French workshops for the European market. These objects reflect the transition from historicism to modern design language at the dawn of the 20th century.
A rare, large-scale Jugendstil planter with strong visual impact — a true eye-catcher for collectors of Art Nouveau metalwork and period interiors.
