Description from the seller
Taxidermy osteological specimen: complete skeleton of a royal python (Python regius), carefully reconstructed and mounted in a dynamic attack position, housed inside a glass case with wooden base and frame. The royal python, native to the savannas and forests of western and central Africa, is a constrictor snake belonging to the Pythonidae family. It is known for its generally docile temperament and for its ability to coil around prey until suffocation. The presented specimen shows with great anatomical precision the over 200 vertebrae and the slender ribs that, articulated in sequence, give the snake’s body exceptional flexibility and strength. The skull, with jaws open, highlights the typical structure of snakes, capable of disarticulating to swallow prey far larger than the body’s diameter. The mounting has been carried out with extreme scientific and artistic care, enhancing the natural defensive and attacking posture, which gives the composition a strong visual impact. The glass case serves both as protection and as an exhibition frame, making the work perfect for natural history museums, private collections, and cabinets de curiosités. A precious anatomical testimony that allows close observation of the complexity of the skeletal structure of reptiles. A work that unites scientific, aesthetic and didactic value, capable of evoking wonder and admiration in any display context.
