Description from the seller
Style and Era
Based on the shapes, most likely it is a piece in Late Victorian or Early Edwardian style (late 19th or early 20th century, approx. 1890-1910).
However, due to the flawless and glossy finish, there is also the possibility that it is a high-quality mid-20th-century reproduction (1950s-1960s) that faithfully imitates antique designs.
2. Design Features
• Art Nouveau Influence: The carved, cut-out panels on the sides and the top piece (the cap) have those organic, sinuous curves typical of the Art Nouveau movement.
• Turned Columns: The vertical supports imitate bamboo or feature turned-ring details, a common feature in period auxiliary furniture to create a light visual impression.
• Wood: From the grain visible on the shelves (that stain or knot effect), it appears to be walnut veneer or walnut burl, which is highly valued for its aesthetic beauty.
